The surface can become scratched or cloudy and the film may lose its insulating ability. Fortunately, maintenance for window film is extremely simple. How to Keep Your Window Film in Good Condition

Window film looks best when it is clean and polished. However, cleaning should be performed delicately and with care. While window tint is a durable material, it’s far from indestructible. You should avoid cleaning your film with harsh chemicals, hard brushes, and coarse cloths. These will not only ruin the appearance of the film but may also impair its ability to function properly.

Caring for your Film Immediately After Installation

After window film has been installed, it needs to be left alone to cure. It can take a few weeks for primer to dry and set, but if the weather is warm and sunny, it could dry quicker. While the film is drying, you may notice some small air bubbles, cloudiness, or haziness. These are all normal and should resolve on their own. Do not attempt to remove air bubbles or primer on your own.

How to Keep Your Window Film Clean

Over time, dust, soot, and debris may build up on the surface of the film. To keep your windows looking their best, you’ll want to give the film a good cleaning. Do not use ammonia-based cleaners, hard paper towels, or coarse towels to clean your window film. Instead, use the following method:
1. Create a mixture of soapy water. This can be added a bucket or a spray bottle. Make sure you’re using a mild soap that will not damage the film.
2. Wet a soft cloth, such as a microfiber towel, with the soapy mixture. Use the wet cloth to gently wipe dust from the window.
3. Remove all excess soap and moisture.
4. On occasion, use a silicone polish to renew the lustrous appearance of the film.
